    "Tōitu te Whakapapa, tōitu te Mauri, tōitu te Oranga."

    "I stand proudly on the ancestral maunga, Pukemaire, gazing out upon the majestic Kaituna River, which flows to the sea, carrying the stories of my tīpuna. I am the descendant of Whakaue-Kaipapa, an uri whakahirahira of Te Arawa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāpuhi, and Ngāti Kahungunu.

    In 2009, I graduated from Te Manaakitanga o Aotearoa with a certificate in Māori performing arts. During my time there, I was awarded Student of the Year.

    In 2010, I studied at Waiariki Polytech and graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of applied social sciences from Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology. I then completed a postgraduate diploma in Kaitiakitanga—bi-cultural professional supervision at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, simultaneously obtaining a Diploma in Mauri Ora at Te Korowai Aroha o Aotearoa. I also obtained a certificate level five in adult teaching from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.

    As a wahine, kaiwhakaruruhau, and proud māmā of five, I am dedicated to revitalizing traditional Māori practices that nourish our communities. I am committed to amplifying the voices and aspirations of tangata whenua, ensuring their rights and leadership are respected.

    My life's mission is to decolonize and re-indigenize professional spaces, particularly social services. I provide bicultural supervision and cultural guidance, empowering professionals to embrace Māori perspectives. My vision is to enhance my leadership skills, inspired by my revered ancestors: Tamarau Waiari, Takurua Tamarau, and Wharehuia Milroy.

    With passion and confidence, I strive to nurture individuals and families, equipping them with the tools for Oranga and Tino Rangatiratanga.

    In loving memory of my daughter Apakura, I aim to establish a whare ora for whakapapa restoration and mānawatia, for individuals to live with purpose and direction rooted in Māori values and Indigenous practices, to whakamauri ngā kare-a-roto.

Apakura Consults is a custom-based service that provides training and professional learning development support for hapū, iwi, and community workers.

We are Kaupapa Māori-driven and promote value-based strategies for personal and professional development, collaborating with providers across Aotearoa to improve community practice and deliver high-quality services. Our objective is to improve and maintain a significant focus on community well-being.

Individual Supervision

Online or in-person. This service is offered to professionals in the social work community sector. Typically, meetings are monthly or bi-monthly.

60 mins | $155 incl GST. Rates are customised for individuals and/or groups based on the availability of funds. In essence, fees are subject to change as needed.

Peer/Group Supervision

Online or in-person. This service provides customised cultural supervision, incorporating relatable activities and Māori worldview values, tailored to community organisations and agencies that provide support services to the community. Typically, lessons are weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

90 mins | $840 incl. GST max of 7 participants. Rates are customised for groups based on the availability of funds. In essence, fees are subject to change as needed.

Mentoring

Online or in-person. This service assists you in understanding your purpose and developing a plan to achieve personal growth. Typically, meetings are weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

60 mins | $120 incl. G.S.T. Rates are customised for individuals and/or groups based on the availability of funds. In essence, fees are subject to change as needed.

Advocacy

Online or in-person, this service supports you to have your voice heard on issues that are important to you. And, to promote and protect your human rights.
